Welcome to autumn! This is the season of festivals, with Halloween, or All Hallows Eve, Samhain, and Guy Fawkes Night here with us right now, we also have the festive build up to Yule Tide, Christmas, and many other celebrations of the season, including Diwali, Al-Hijira, Winter Solstice, and Hanukkah, to look forward to.
To report on our latest success, the Southern Crane Kungfu Kids Class has raised £1,119 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The children took part in a kickathon, in which they collectively did 2,500 kicks in one hour during class (I did them all and was in pain for some time afterwards!). Altogether an amazing success, that your chief instructor and I personally donated £300 towards.
On that note, it is important to help others. We have all been taught this at some point in our lives, from being told to be nice to little siblings, or to help older people across the road, and generally to watch out for other people.
As martial artists, we are more involved in the true balance of nature than many other people, as we strive to attain a balance in our bodies and to tune into the world around us.
At this time of year when self indulgence is the order of the day, make sure you give something back. Help others, give to charity and organise an event for a good cause, and make our communities, countries and our world a better place.
